Spendesk's Core Product team is focused on delivering value for our customer through our main web & mobile-based platform. It's currently composed of 6 cross-functional squads working on different steps of the customer journey, with between 4 and 6 engineers per squad, supervised by Team Leads & Engineering Managers.

Spendesk's Core Product team is focused on delivering value for our customer through our main web & mobile-based platform. It's currently composed of 6 cross-functional squads working on different steps of the customer journey, with between 4 and 6 engineers per squad, supervised by Team Leads & Engineering Managers.

As the Engineering Director, reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll be responsible for 3 key missions.

The first one is to guide, coach and grow the managers working directly with the engineers in the squads (EMs & Team Leads). Spendesk's culture is heavily focused on individual growth and you'll be actively coaching and pushing our current management team to develop their own skills and career.

The second one will be to drive our delivery strategy in order to increase the value for our users while maintaining a world-class engineering environment for our team to stay productive and happy (it's always better to work on a clean codebase, at Spendesk we don't only ship new features!). As the leader of this team, you'll be making the tradeoffs between the technical and product roadmaps and will need to be deeply connected both with our business and our architecture.

The last one is to grow and adapt our organisation, we have 30+ engineers in the Core Product team already and are planning to hire 50 more in the next 2 years. We'll need to keep our fast pace and strong collaboration between the squads, develop the future managers and structure the team in the most efficient way for the long term. Hiring 50 people in the current context is also a big challenge on which you'll be supported by the TA & People teams as well as your manager and peers.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in software engineering
  • Experience managing & growing teams over 30 people
  • Experience working in collaboration with product, design, data, etc…
  • Strong architectural skills
  • Experience working in a SaaS company is a bonus
  • No particular stack or coding skills needed!
  • Fluent in English
